The Afifi Law Group Victory in Celebrity Defamation Case

In a monumentally important case involving the renown Persian Singer, Dariush, the Afifi Law Group had filed a defamation lawsuit against two individuals and their claimed media outlets who had circulated false information to harm Dariush in 2022.  The statements impacted Dariush and his beloved non-profit, Ayeneh Foundation, a completely altruistic effort he and the Director Abbasseh Towfigh had devoted their life’s work to.  Because of the false statements, Ayeneh’s fundraising was seriously impacted, and aa a result, the aid it was providing individuals who suffered from human rights abuses, substance abuse and other harms were not receiving help and guidance as they had before.  This was the most tragic result of the false statements, because Ayeneh helped provide resources to so many people in Iran who needed it.  The timing of the case preceded the Iran War by a month.  The mater was tried by Faryan Andrew Afifi.  After a bench trial, the court found in favor of Plaintiff and even concluded that defendants had acted with malice, oppression and fraud justifying punitive damages.  The parties are currently awaiting the court’s final monetary award.
